We have been so blessed this year to have so many short term mission teams from the USA. We have enjoyed every person who has come and are so excited to see the Lord work through all that come. We give thanks to each and every person who has visited us and to the churches that have sent them. We had teams from Arizona, Illinois, Texas and Colorado. We have one more team coming later this summer to offer some specific training for a few of our youth to begin their own businesses.
I have an update on Pherry Bakita for those of you who have been praying for her. She has improved some, but apparently the problem was not a brain tumor as originally diagnosed. It turns out that her problem with the heart has become critical. She is now getting help in Kampala, but please continue to pray for her.
Jon and Andy, our two young men from Colorado, are doing a great job working in many different areas. They have done construction work, digging for fence poles, teaching Bible Studies, occasionally Andy has preached, working in AWANA’s with Sparkes Club for kids, evangelizing and even tutoring English with several different age groups on different days. They are also working on putting a basketball court on the orphanage property.
We recently went to many schools with a team from Bailey, Colorado and
we were so excited to see so many young people come to the Lord, accepting Him to live in their hearts and be their Lord. Please pray for us as we begin the follow-up work and discipleship with the 127 youth. There were others who also accepted Christ with the previous teams as well. The follow-up, or discipleship, is very important to us, to see that the new believers grow in the Lord and become strong Christians in this country. We also offered special teaching on HIV/AIDS and related it to how God created us to be one man for one woman; a message they truly need to hear. The first teaching on this came from some wonderful women from a church in Houston, Texas. They left the material for us and we taught this as well as presenting the gospel.
We also had three very special women’s conferences for the women of Kamonkoli. These conferences were wonderful and taught the women so many important things that they need to hear, especially the message of God’s great love for them. The women here tend to think little of themselves and feel unloved. We are thankful to all the people on the various teams who provided these wonderful conferences. Pray that the messages that were taught to them will continue to touch their lives and make a difference for them.
Please pray for us as we move into the new orphanage and for our discipleship work. I am thankful to God for all of you from the bottom of my heart. Oh Lord, hear my prayer for the children of Uganda and know that I care from the depths down inside me. These children need love that is everlasting. Oh Lord hear my prayer for the children of Uganda. . .
God bless you, Katherine
